Steve Nyland, Recent Paintings August 2013

New zombie couples.

All works are acrylics with caran d'ache crayons.

It Doesn't Matter To You, It Matters To Me

Without the flash.

Family Unit: Suppertime

Family Unit: Rain Ponchos

And with the other two Family Units in progress, all painted on tree core samples collected by my dad over the years from his SUNY ESF research plots.

New figure study, drawn on paper of all things.

Zombie backlog.

Dutch Interior 2013, drawn on an old cabinet door I found.

... Zombie Can't Believe He Just Posted That

New small scale landscapes. The masses of trees & soup cans have slowly disappeared, now they are more about color and implied distance.

My infamous Jungle Pyramid drawing started in either 2009 or 2010, honestly have no clear recollection. I abandoned it when realizing I didn't have the comic book artist type skillz necessary to realize the vision (based on a pulp scifi cover I saw as a kid) with the polish in mind. Now I understand that's not important, and see a correlation between the rounded base & the tree core samples used first in the earth art project and now as painting surfaces. Hot.

Another new medium: iFonez art, or at least attempting to sketch with freeware apps that will allow exporting an image off the damn fone. This an early effort done with one ironically called Art Rage.

Doodle Buddy cyborg head, with an image library background.

Night Owl, using Glow Draw. Reminds me of the color lines made by use of the caran d'ache watercolor crayons I've come to rely on.

Zombie Drooling Blood, with my favorite so far, Inspire by KwikPixel.

Zombie's Been Up Painting All Night Again, once more with Inspire.
